Xanthoparmelia wyomingica

A soil lichen, often “vagrant” i.e. not attached to a substrate. Vagrant lichen are fascinating because during dry weather they roll up like tumbleweed and blow around, but when there is moisture they uncurl allow their algae to soak up as much sunlight as possible.
